Doo Wop Halloween is a Scream IMPORT CD (Wanda)- Boo! Just in time for, um,... next Halloween comes another ghoulish group gathering featuring (mostly) old and (a couple of) new screamers most of which are making their first appearance on a monster music comp ever! This one leans a little bit more in the "novelty" direction and Includes The Magics' "Zombie Walk", King Flash and The Calypso Carnival's amazing "Zombie Jamboree", The Crewnecks' "Rockin' Zombie" and many more! 27 terror tunes in total! Mrs. Miller - The Turned On World Of Mrs. Miller CD (Amaret Records)- 3, count 'em, 3 hard-to-find Mrs. Miller LP's re-issued on this limited edition CD. "Will Success Spoil Mrs. Miller ?!", "The Country Soul Of Mrs. Miller", and the more-appropriately-titled-than-they-realized "Mrs. Miller Does Her Own Thing". For those not in the know (give yourselves a hand!) Mrs. Miller was a middle aged woman who got somewhat of a cult popularity for showing up in the audiences of zillions of t.v. shows in the 60's and early 70's. "The Carol Burnette Show", "Mike Douglas" and the like. Whether or not this is the same Mrs. Miller seems to be an issue of confusion among her fans (???), however someone at Capitol had the bright idea to have a Mrs. Miller her cut an album without ever bothering to find out if the sweet dame could actually sing or not. And could she? Not. Imagine a deaf chihuahua trying to sing current pop hits in an operatic style and you get the idea. Even more amazing than her first album, the more common "Mrs Miller's Greatest Hits" was the fact that it was followed by these gawdaful 3!!! Includes completely de-freakin'-stroyed covers of "Green Tambourine", "Strangers In The Night", "Memphis" and the theme from "Mary Jane!" Guaranteed to break up any party! Mad at your neighbors? Ooh Ooh Ahh CD (Arf Arf)- "21 vintage sexy tracks to get you off"! After Jane Birken and Serge Gainsbourg's "Je T'Aime..." became a smash hit it opened the floodgates (as it were) to a veritable orgy of panting and moaning copy records! This sleazy comp collects 21 moaners and boners! Mellow rock, primal jungle trash, a few Euro soundtrack cuts and other sexy schlock! Each with some form of vocalized ecstasy! My only gripe about this one is the lack of artist credits and the obviously fake track retitlings. However, purveyors of aural oralism will recognize a few reinterpretations of the hit "Je T'aime...Moi Non Plus", plus several other faintly recognizable seat wetters! You will have an EARGASM! $13.98

Out Of This World Flying Saucers & Other Stuff Too CD (Concert Products)- Can you believe it? Another collection of even more break-in records and other weirdness! For those of you that didn't get enough in the Buchanan & Goodman and others collection "The Flying Saucer" (also available), here's 27 more tracks of rock-n-roll cut-up comedy madness!! Amazingly, this comp only repeats 1 track from the other one as far as I can tell. Yes, it's ultra low-budget break-in and pseudo-break-in insanity you've probably never heard before (and for good reason!) "The Flying Saucers In Brooklyn" by The Merry Martian, "Man In Orbit" by "The Space Men", "Luney Landing" by Captain Zap and the Motortown Cut-ups! Plus non-space aural irritations like "Russian Bandstand", the all-Elvis cut-up "Elvis And The Unmentionables", the all Jerry Lee cut-up "The Return Of Jerry Lee Lewis", the all James Brown cut-up "A Talk With The News" (was this thing liscenced? The Talent Show CD (Arf! Arf!)-Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse than Mrs. Miller comes this recording of a church talent show held in the early 80's. My feeble attempt to describe the atrocity disguised as entertainment that took place in that house of worship on that fateful day cannot due it justice. Basically we have 65 minutes of pure audio torture that would've made even Mother Theresa wanna torch this joint! Mostly vocal and piano accompaniment with demolished covers of "Lullabye Of Broadway", "Girl Of My Dreams", "St. Louis Blues", you get the idea. My favorite is a young band's 3 attempts to play "Here Comes The Sun". Truly awful, yet beneath it all some heartfelt and inspired performances that will warm your shackles while the sound makes your eardrums crackle! $14.98

The Banana Splits / The Beagles LIMITED EDITION CD (Hollywood Library)- Wow! Excellent sounding reissue of the impossible-to-find Banana Splits LP "We're The Banana Splits" plus bonus tracks not on the LP! These bonus tracks were originally box-top mail-in 45's from Pop Tarts. I know this 'cause I was one of the zillions of kids that bought those when they originally came out in late 60's! At least I think that's when I got 'em. My foggy brain can't remember the exact year, but I do remember dancin' in my diapers to these groovy pop-rock tunes that run between bubble-gum rock, love ballads, catchy soul and r&b (with vocals by Barry White, no less!) and just bizarre kid-oriented schlock-rock! (what trendier critics would call "kitsch", a word that I've always hated to use, so I won't.) Also includes the even more obscure cartoon pop-rockers The Beagles! Over 70 minutes of fun with a gorgeous color cover and limited to 1,000 copies, buy one quick before Hanna-Barbera sues the living crap outta' whoever made these things! $17.98

Music For TV Dinners CD (Scamp)- Someone went through a lot of trouble to dig through the film library muzak of the '50s and early '60s, collecting together what can only be described as deja vu muzak for the middle agers! I dare you to listen to this CD without going "I remember that!" at least 5 times! These bouncy, bright jingles have been used, reused and abused in everything from "Nick At Night", "Renn And Stimpy" and "Natural Born Killers"! But the stuff originally was once used to to sell products and set a happy consumer atmosphere without any intentions of being cheesy or sappy! Pop it on the next time you host a dinner and set the mood for food! Play it at your next party and watch the ice start a-breakin'! Signor Rossi GERMAN IMPORT CD (Crippled Dick Hot Wax)- Who? Offbeat soundtrack by Franco Godi to the European cartoon series of the mid '70s! Lively and humorous music with comical chorus and character voices sung mostly in Italian! Unless you lived in Germany or Italy during this period you probably never heard of Rossi and his pals (I never had) but this collection is thoroughly enjoyable to fans of offbeat soundtrack music! $19.98

Star Maidens GERMAN IMPORT CD (All Score Media)- You thought you'd heard it all? Here's the music from the 1975 British / German sci-fi t.v. series! 64 minutes of Berry Lipman's very 70's score with moody themes to uptempo beats occasionally leaning towards disco (but thankfully not crossing too far into that hellish terrain), enhanced with little dialogue samples. Kinda' like futuristic cop-show music! One track is an obvious rip-off of the theme from "Shaft"! Nice packaging with pics and liner notes in both German and English. $19.98

Peter Thomas Sound Orchester "Raumpatrouille" GERMAN IMPORT CD or LP (Bungalow)-Wild space jazz soundtrack to sci-fi t.v. show from the sixties! "Raumpatrouille" (pronounced "rump-patrol"-stop snickering, now!) means "Space Patrol" and was a 7 part t.v. show in Bavaria showcasing the adventures of the spaceship Orion! The soundtrack, like Thomas's cool crime jazz from the Jerry Cotton film collection, is also some cool mid-sixties sounding jazz but with a spacey edge! The CD is $17.98, the LP is $14.98
