Then check out this ultra-sleazy psycho-slasher erotic (???) thriller! Tab stars as "Eddie Collins", an impotent gym teacher who's obsession with women becomes lethal! A trashy gem for those that like bleak roughies, this one definitely deserves a bigger reputation, but what kind of reputation I ain't sure of! Hunter, star of the classic musical "Damn Yankees", is great as the frustrated sex maniac (who I hoped would yell "Damn! Yank me!!" but didn't), B-movie babe Roberta Collins has a small but memorable part as a call-girl / soon-to-be-dead-call-girl victim, and look for "Phantasm"'s Angus Scrimm in a small role too!

Attack of the Beast Creatures (1985) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Michael Stanley, USA Remember that story in "Trilogy of Terror" where Karen Black was chased around for 15 minutes by a spear-wielding 1 foot tall native jungle monster-man doll with sharp teeth? Well, if you liked that scene, then you may love this movie, which features an entire island full of hundreds of little buggers that seem to be close cousins to said jungle mo'fo'. This low-budget period piece film tells the story of a group of people surviving a luxury liner shipwreck only to be stranded on an island full of the horrible aforementioned "beast creatures"! Most of the running time consists of the survivors being gradually picked-off as they fend for their lives from an onslaught of tiny terror attacks! You will either find this film somewhat creepy or ridiculously hilarious depending on your outlook of such things!

She soon finds that the woman running the house along with her servant, a sadistic ex-con, are using the project as a scam to get money. Evil goings-on are afoot and, as if things weren't bad enough, it looks as though the killer has returned to finish off poor Ellie! A great sleazy thriller with an unhealthy feel to the atmosphere much in the same vein as "Don't Look In The Basement". Blood Reincarnation (Yinyang jie, 1974) MANDARIN (?) LANGUAGE WITH BURNED-IN ENGLISH SUBTITLES Directed by Shan-si Ting, Hong Kong Offbeat horror anthology from China dealing with curses and ghosts! The first and shortest story is my favorite about an old woman who, after being murdered, comes back to take revenge by possessing the killer's baby - in her womb! After delivery the kid goes bonkers and attacks "daddy" who was also in on the murder! Very twisted! The other 2 stories never quite live up to the opening but are still interesting. The second and goofiest one is a typical revenge-from-beyond curse story, but the last tale, about a man wrongly sent to death who comes back from the grave by performing a sacred reincarnation ritual, is quite moving! Dr. Jekyll and His Women (Docteur Jekyll et les femmes aka Dr. Jekyll and Miss osbourne, 1979, erotic horror / sadism) UNCUT VERSION WIDE-SCREEN PICTURE ENGLISH LANGUAGE WITH DUTCH SUBTITLES Directed by Walerian Borowczyk, France / West Germany This is quite a twisted take on Robert Lewis Stevenson’s classic novel! Dr. Jekyll (Udo Kier) holds an engagement dinner for him and his fiancée Fanny Osbourne (Marina Pierro). Their friends and colleagues attend and end up being assaulted by Jekyll’s sexually deviant alter ego, Hyde. However, unlike the classic novel, this Hyde has a gigantic penis that he uses for a “weapon.” Borowczyk never fails to entertain or amaze me. This is definitely one of his finest films! Interestingly, he uses another actor to play the role of Hyde. Fans of the genre will love this sexually explicit satire of stuffy Victorian society. There is definitely enough nudity / sex and violence to satisfy most appetites. The ending is also one of Borowczyk’s finest. Dracula - Sovereign Of The Damned (Yami no Teio Kyuketsuki Dracula / "The Emperor of Darkness, Vampire Dracula", 1980) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by "Robert Barron", Japan An unusual animated feature from Japan's Toei studios. The credits claim that this was based on Marvel Comics Group's "Tomb Of Dracula" but the story is entirely different as far as I can tell. Set in modern day Boston, Dracula picks a human bride and fathers a baby. In flashback we are told that he was once Vlad The Imapaler who, in death, was cursed to become a vampire. Like the comic book, he is more of a tragic anti-hero, taking on a group of Satanists, a mob of zombie-like vampires and the even The Devil himself! While this one is definitely for adults it is still pretty tame compared to some of the Anime coming out today. Definitely worth a look. Also available is the Toei produced animated Frankenstein feature.

Dracula, Prisoner Of Frankenstein (aka Drácula contra Frankenstein aka The Screaming Dead, 1971) WIDE-SCREEN PICTURE IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE WITH JAPANESE SUBTITLES Directed by Jess Franco, Spain / France Not so much a story as a collection of images concerning Dr. Frankenstein and his control over his monster and the recently revived Count Dracula! Nice looking wide-screen picture on this rare English language version! Puts the viewer into a trance-like state!

Dracula vs. Frankenstein (aka Assignment Terror, 1969) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Tulio Demicheli, Spain / Italy / West Germany Michael Rennie plays an alien disguised as a human intent on conquering Earth. He revives Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Mummy, and The Wolfman (the latter played by Paul Naschy who supposedly also wrote this thing!) to aid in his evil mission. Remember, this was made in 1970, not the 30's!! How can you not own this movie!?!

One of my all time fave Chinese horror actioners starring Samo Hung and Ching-Ying Lam. The humor is toned down a bit, there are some great zombies and ghosts and overall this film is much better then the first "Spooky Encounters" (this is a sequel in name only and story-wise there is no connection). It's strange to me that this film has yet to be released on DVD and remains so hard to find as it really stands out! Please not that although there are burned-in English subtitles, they often dip below the bottom of the picture and disappear for awhile.

The Erotic Rites of Frankenstein (Les Expériences érotiques de Frankenstein aka The Curse Of Frankenstein, 1972, horror / s&m) ADULT VERSION SLIGHTLY WIDE-SCREEN ENGLISH LANGUGE WITH DUTCH SUBTITLES Directed by Jess Franco, Spain / France I can't even begin to tell you how much better this version is then the "clothed" version released to DVD. If you haven't seen this version, you haven't seen it! Having said that, this is typical Jess Franco weirdness at it's wildest and not for everyone. Definitely the raunchiest of the 3 Franco Dracula / Frankenstein movies. More train-of-thought madness with s&m overtones! Fear (original title: L'Ossessione che uccide / "Murder Obsession" aka The Wailing, 1980) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Riccardo Freda, Italy Totally out-of-control murder thriller with supernatural overtones! Opening with the making of a film-within-the-film, an actor playing a murderer (Stefano Patrizi) gets a little overzealous and almost strangles his co-star (Laura Gemser). He decides to take a break and invites his blonde fiancee (Martine Brochard) and some of the cast to visit his family's gothic estate where his ailing mother lives. Played by genre fave Anita Strindberg, his mother seems to have an almost incestual connection to him and soon tells him that, as a child, he was responsible for knifing his own father to death! Meanwhile, his fiancé begins having nightmares about wandering through the house and ending up in cavelike rooms where Satanic cult sacrifices, giant spiders and other horrific sights exist! As if this wasn't enough, somebody begins to brutally murder the guests... This film, Freda's last, is largely ignored by most and I'm not sure why! Made in 1980 but with the dreamlike abandon of an early 70's film, this one delivers! One of the last visually "horror-delic" Italian thrillers made, Freda doesn't skimp on the blood and nudity! Admittedly the dreamlike incoherency of the story doesn't always make the most sense but the eerie goings-on effectively create a nightmarish mood and isn't that what horror movies are supposed to do anyways? This version is also the longest one I've seen. Rated R

The Fiend (aka Beware My Brethren, 1972) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Robert Hartford-Davies, UK Tony Beckley plays Kenny, a man who's mind has been warped largely due to the misguidance by his now deceased mother and by the fanatical local minister (played by the always intense Patrick Magee). Kenny begins to go on a murderous rampage doing in female "sinners"! From the director of the equally warped "Corruption" (aka Laser Killer, also available) so you know your in for some trashy stuff! Rated R

A hard-to-find screwy horror comedy with Zsa Zsa Gabor, June Wilkinson and Aldo Ray!

The Frozen Dead (1967) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Herbert J. Leder, UK Unintentionally hilarious film about an evil scientist who works for the Nazis. As a matter of fact he's still got a few of the vicious buggers on ice! Now it seems he needs a fresh head to keep alive for some reason which escapes me. Lots o' fun! Gang Wars (aka Devil's Express, 1976) Directed by Barry Rosen, USA Amazing low-budget Black kung-fu vs. subway zombie masterpiece! Words fail me! Low-budget Blaxploit / martial arts / horror hybrid! Freda’s superior follow-up to “The Horrible Dr. Hitchcock”. Barbara Steele stars in this excellent gothic thriller! This is the overall best looking version of this movie I've ever seen. The picture is brighter and more colorful than any other version I've watched. Recommended!

Ghost Legend (Ma yi chuan qi, 1990) ENGLISH SUBTITLED WIDE-SCREEN PICTURE Directed by Ng Min Kan, Hong Kong Exciting vampire kung fu horror! The “King Of Ghosts” is accidentally revived with the afterbirth blood from a newborn baby. After drinking the baby’s blood, he goes off to suck the blood of 6 more virgins which will make him immortal! Recommended!

The Head (Die Nackte und der Satan, 1959) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Victor Trivas, West Germany Offbeat black & white sci-fi / mystery about the shenanigans of a mad scientist named Dr. Ood! The insanely determined Doc (played by Horst Frank) seems to be losing his own noggin at the idea of performing a groundbreaking operation: Transplanting the head of a beautiful woman (with a deformed body, natch) onto the perfect body of a stripper! Ood da man!! Moody black & white expressionistic photography make this an unusual cult favorite!

The Headless Eyes (1971) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Kent Bateman, USA Gory psycho slasher about a down-on-his-luck artist who has an eyeball poked out during a botched robbery attempt. He goes nutso and roams the city streets looking for victims to poke their eyeballs out! He adds the eyeballs to his hanging eyeball mobile! Many hate this film and some losers on the IMDB have even called this the worst horror film ever made but I thought it was pretty good, a bit offbeat and nicely paced! So sue me you eyeball hating bastards! Rated R

Hiding Place (1999?) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Lamson Yesuf, Nigeria Ultra-rare shot-on-video horror film spoken in the English language! Very low-budget and sometimes the dialogue is hard to hear. The shot-on-video look seems more like an early '80s production with a somewhat poor video quality look.

Hungry Snake Woman (Petualangan cinta nyi blorong, 1986) WIDE-SCREEN PICTURE ENGLISH DUBBED WITH JAPANESE SUBTITLES Directed by Sisworo Gautama Putra, Indonesia The Snake Queen returns in this bizarre horror fantasy starring recently deceased Indonesian scream queen Suzzanna! Advent Bangun co-stars as Brian, a man who believes that money and power will win over the love of his girlfriend. While fleeing through the woods (after attempting rape on his now-ex-girlfriend) he stumbles upon The Snake Queen who promises him great wealth if he does her bidding. However the evil Hungry Snake Woman, who wants revenge against the Snake Queen, convinces Brian to trick the Queen by sticking a magic pin in her neck during love making turning her into a snake! El Imperio de Dracula (1967) IN SPANISH LANGUAGE WITH NO SUBTITLES Directed by Federico Curiel, Mexico Classic Mexican version that is somewhat similiar to Hammer’s “Horror Of Dracula”. The picture quality fluctuates a bit but overall it is watchable.

I Dismember Mama (aka Poor Albert and Little Annie, 1974) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Paul Leder, USA Ultra-sleazy psycho slasher starring Zooey Hall as the fucked-up Albert and Geri Reischl as the innocent little girl Annie. The DVD-R includes both the original theatrical trailer plus the hilarious extended double feature trailer! Don't forget to have your Upchuck Cup handy! Rated R

In the Grip of the Spider (Nella Stretta Morsa del Ragno aka Web of the Spider, 1970) WIDE-SCREEN PICTURE ENGLISH LANGUAGE WITH DUTCH SUBTITLES Directed by Antonio Margheriti, Italy Director Margheriti's remake of his own "Castle Of Terror", this time in color and a bit more risque! Klaus Kinski appears all too briefly as Edgar Allen Poe. Contains the naughty bits cut from the t.v. version! Note: There are a few lines of dialogue that are spoken still in Italian language (these were presumably never recorded in English). Rated R

Inquisition (Spanish title: Inquisición, 1976) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Jacinto Molina (Paul Naschy), Spain Naschy directs and stars in his most sadistically violent film as a witch hunter who falls for a beautiful young girl not knowing that she has made a pact with Satan (also portrayed by Naschy interestingly enough!) to destroy the him! Decent period piece horror inspired by “Witchfinder General” but much more graphic! With Daniela Giordano and Mónica Randall. Looks great! Rated R

Invasion of the Vampires (La Invasion de los Vampiros, 1961) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Michael Morayta, Mexico Carlos Agosti plays Count Frankenhausen, king of the vampires, who terrorizes an entire village. Lots of really great creepy black & white photography and a huge wild monster-bat that looks a bit like Bugs Bunny! Don't miss the great scene towards the end when a huge group of staked zombie-like vampires go on a bloodthirsty rampage with their enormous stakes still sticking out of their freakin' chests! DVD-R includes the original trailer! (We sell the sequel too, see The Bloody Vampire above.)

Jaws of Satan (aka King Kobra, 1981) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Bob Claver, USA Starring Fritz Weaver, Jon Korkes, Gretchen Corbett, John McCurry, Bob Hannah, Matt Perry, Jack Gordon, Diana Douglas and the screen debut of Christina Applegate! Really nice picture on this, much better than the VHS release! Rated R

A nonstop barrage of low-budget but effective makeup and camera effects plus the unusual religious overtones make this one offbeat horror film and particularly unusual to American eyes!
