This is the longer more adult version of Jess Franco's "Revenge in the House of Usher" which contains one brief nudie scene over the cut Image DVD release. The scene depicts Howard Vernon raping and attacking a naked woman and then killing her with a knife. While it does spice up the movie a bit I can really only recommend this to Franco completists but if you have to have it here it is! Picture is a bit soft looking but watchable. A fave! Picture looks a tiny bit “soft” but ok . (This seems to be the way the original PAL pre-record was mastered.) Rated R

Nightmare (original title: Voices, 1973) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Kevin Billington, UK This is an obscure little British chiller based on a stage play. A couple’s young son accidentally drowns while they are making love and this drives a wedge into their relationship. In hopes of repairing things, they vacation at a deceased relative’s mansion. A hearty portion of intriguing dialogue ensues as they find they aren’t alone. This film is extremely dialogue driven but I never found it boring. Actually, it crescendos rather nicely in the end. There is no nudity or gore to be had but the supernatural element is strong. I found myself very reminded of The Others with a touch of Don’t Look Now. ~Melissa Kusia Starring David Hemmings and Gayle Hunnicutt as the couple.

Nightmare House (aka Scream, Baby, Scream, 1969) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Joseph Adler, USA Oddball obscuro U.S. horror about a demented painter who kidnaps people and transforms them into bizarre creatures! Includes a decent live performance by the psychedelic band Odyssey! If you are a fan of offbeat horror like "Blood Freak" then you'll dig this one! If not, you'll scream, baby! The DVD-R includes the original theatrical trailer!

Nocturna (aka Granddaughter Of Dracula, 1979) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Harry Hurwitz, USA If you're a fan of disco-laden vampire comedies of the 70s you could do worse than this film, but not much worse. John Carradine is the aging Count Dracula who lives with his crazed servant (Brother Theodore) and his granddaughter. His beautiful granddaughter (somewhat blandly portrayed by the exotically attractive Nai Bonet) wants to be human and flees to her vampire-aunt's ("Munsters"' Yvonne DeCarlo!) place in New York City to be with her boyfriend. Apart from Bonet's extended nude shower scene, the only other reason to see this one is for Brother Theodore's over- the-top improvised raving that comes across like a Nazi on LSD! Truly amazing! Rated R

Sweet Spirits (original Italian title: La Rossa dalla pelle che scotta / The Red Headed Corpse, 1971) ENGLISH DIALOGUE Directed by Renzo Russo, Italy A painter uses a female mannequin as his subject. In his delirium the mannequin comes to life, but is it just a dream? Erica Blanc (as the spirit / mannequin), Krista Nell and Farley Granger star in this low-budget sexy ghost story with a few references to "Devil’s Nightmare" made the same year. The dreamy and serious approach to the story plus Blanc's nude scenes make this a must for her fans! Rated R

Symptoms (aka Blood Virgin, 1974) ENGLISH LANGUAGE WITH FRENCH SUBTITLES Directed by José Ramón Larraz, UK Moody psychological thriller starring Angela Pleasance as a disturbed and homicidally dangerous woman living in a remote country house. Although from the director of "Vampyres" this movie is nowhere's near as bloody or raunchy as that film or his demented "Deviation" (my personal fave, also available). However, because of it's deliberate style this low-key thriller works quite well! Note: Picture unfortunately has a some major color dropouts.

Co-starring French starlet Miou-Miou as an actress sent by her agent (along with another cutie and 2 scriptwriters) to the castle of a wacko retired horror star (Cushing) and his equally nutty wife. What follows is anybody’s guess! Intentionally disjointed and lots of fun! Hard to find! Rated R

Robert Flemyng is the perverse Dr. H. who loves drugging his wife (Barbara Steele) to engage in pretend necrophilia while she is unconscious. One day he accidentally gives her an overdose! Shot the same year as Jess Franco's similar themed "Vampyros Lesbos", the somewhat stilted acting and dated hippy dialogue is salvaged by the director's excellent dream-like photography! Note: The first minute or so has a few minor "wrinkles" in the picture, but overall it looks good. Rated R

Whirlpool (aka She Died With Her Boots On, 1970) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by José Ramón Larraz, Denmark Tulia, a young model, naively decides to stay with Sarah and her photographer "nephew" Theo. Living in a secluded cabin, the duo enjoys playing sexual games with their nervous but willing guest. Sarah tells Tulia of Rhonda, another young model that had previously visited, and her fondness for her. Apparently Rhonda had tired of the games and decided to leave... or did she? Tulia finds herself questioning Theo and wondering what truly became of the other young woman. Talthough a bit predictable at times “Whirlpool” is nonetheless extremely engrossing. It has the feel of an Italian sexual thriller (Stelvio Cipriani’s recycled score cleverly aids this) and the ending is fairly rough stuff! ~Melissa Kusia Starring Karl Lanchbury, Vivian Neves and Pia Andersson. Note: Picture is very soft looking. There is a timer counter running at the bottom throughout the entire movie. Rated R

Wild Beasts (Belve feroci, 1983) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Franco Prosperi, Italy Sci-fi horror movie about animals that escape from the zoo and go berserk! It seems they have digested drugged water which leads to terrifying consequences! The water also turns a group of young school kids into homicidally violent brats! (How could they tell?) Directed by “Mondo Cane” producer Prosperi, this fictional movie also has some “real” animal stuff going on, so it’s definitely not for all tastes. Rated R

The Witch (original Italian title: La Strega in amore, 1966) ENGLISH LANGUAGE Directed by Damiano Damiani, Italy A unique and underrated mood piece about a womanizing historian who is called to the old and large gothic home of an old woman to do some work on her late husband's journals. While there he falls for the woman's beautiful daughter Aura (Rosanna Schiaffino). The man realizes that something is wrong and becomes obsessed with the girl. Everything about this film is top notch; The black & white photography, the use of the many gothic, and the deliberate slow pacing used to create various kinds of tensions... mysterious, sexual and dramatic.

He meets up with a scientist (Perla Cristal) who, unbeknownst to him, has been performing experiments on helpless victims and has plans to use Naschy to help her turn the captives into creatures of evil!
