Acid: Delirio dei sensei
Acid, Delirio dei Sensei ( aka LSD - Il paradiso a 5 dollari, 1968)
IN ITALIAN LANGUAGE WITH NO SUBTITLES
Directed by Giuseppe Maria Scotese, Italy
Young trippers get mixed up with the mob in this strangely effective drug drama. Somewhat hard to follow unfortunately for non-Italian speaking viewers. Picture is a bit soft looking but not too bad. Starring Bud Thompson, Bruna Caruso, Annabella Andreoli, Norman Davis, Federica Sachs and Stephen Forsyth. DVD-R includes the original theatrical trailer! Rated R

Anna
Anna (1967)
IN FRENCH LANGUAGE WITH NO SUBTITLES
Directed by Pierre Koralnik, France
JUST ADDED! Here is a beautiful mint copy of this often requested French television movie! Anna Karina plays herself in this light-hearted pop-art musical. Also starring Jean-Claude Brialy with Serge Gainsbourg (who composed the music) and Marianne Faithful who sings one number. This romantic comedy revolving around the '60s fashion / model industry is entirely spoken in French but there are some very cool visuals and excellent music. And dare I say this is probably the best looking picture on this title you will ever see! Ah, oui!

Ballad in Blue
Ballad In Blue (aka Blues For Lovers, 1964)
Directed by Paul Henreid, USA
In this drama Ray Charles, playing himself, performs live in concert and does special shows for blind children where he tries to help one little boy out. An obscure black & white movie and a must for any Ray Charles fan! Also starring Tom Bell, Mary Peach and Dawn Addams. Looks nice!

Beat Girl
Beat Girl (aka Wild For Kicks, 1960)
UNCUT EUROPEAN VERSION!
Directed by Edmund T. Grevelle, UK
Great black & white UK teen flick with Christopher Lee as a sleazy club owner, strippers, beatnik teens hanging out in a "Cavern"-like cave-club, and an excellent soundtrack by John Barry and rocker Adam Faith (who’s also in the film!). Starring gorgeous pouty blonde Gillian Hills. Also with Oliver Reed, Noëlle Adam, Nade Beall, Margot Bryant, David Farrar and Shirley Anne Field. This is the UNCUT Euro version! Highly recommended! DVD-R includes the original theatrical trailer!

Confessions of a Pop Performer (aka Timothy Lea's Confessions of a Pop Performer, 1975)
Directed by Norman Cohen, UK
Anthony Booth and Robin Askwith play 2 brothers managing the pop group Kipper. The two climb on the ladder to success (not to mention any groupies they can nab along the way) and eventually "score" big with their newest discovery The Climax Sisters in this cheerful sex comedy from the UK "Confessions..." series! ("Confessions Of A Window Cleaner", "Confessions Of A Driving Instructor", "Confessions Of A BBFC Censor", etc.) Rated R

The Cool Ones
The Cool Ones (1967)
Directed by Gene Nelson, USA
Cute an' perky Debbie Watson is a "Shindig"-style t.v. show go-go dancer who's dying to break into the bigtime. One night while live on-the-air, she grabs the mic from guest star Glen Campbell and goes into her singing act, only to be nabbed and handcuffed by the irate stage hands! While twisting and gyrating to escape, she unknowingly creates the new dance craze "The Tantrum"! Roddy McDowell is the successful manager who takes her under his wing and she soon forms a singing duo with teen idol Cliff Donnor (Gil Peterson). Lotsa' music numbers including performances by The Leaves, The Bantams, T.J. And The Foundations and... are you sitting down?... Mrs. Miller who absolutely de-freakin-stroys "It's Magic"! Wow! DVD-R includes the original theatrical trailer!

Cult of the Damned
Cult Of The Damned (aka Angel, Angel, Down We Go, 1969)
Directed by Robert Thom, USA
A rock band moves in with a rich family. The singer sets about a plan to take over, seducing the mother and daughter (played by future “woman’s musician” Holly Near!) and killing the father! The plot is secondary to the untypical filmaking style. If A.I.P. had produced "Performance" it mighta' looked like this! Hard to find! Also starring Jennifer Jones, Jordan Christopher, Roddy McDowall, Lou Rawls, Charles Aidman and Davey Davison.
DVD-R includes 2 original theatrical trailers! Rated R

Dame un poco de amooor...!
¡Dame un poco de amooor...! (aka ¡Dame un poco de amor!, 1968)
SLIGHTLY WIDE-SCREEN PICTURE
IN SPANISH LANGUAGE WITH NO SUBTITLES
Directed by José María Forqué with segments by Francisco Macián, Spain
This wild rock-n-roll spy comedy starring Spanish rockers "Los Bravos" plays almost like a hyper-paced extended Spanish "Monkees" t.v. episode but with really decent production values! The Los Bravos music is a bit on the "pop" side of rock-n-roll but still has it's charm. There are some wild psychedelic effects, some very groovy sets and an awesome animated sequence towards the end done in a sort-of psychedelic rotoscope style! Taken from a Spanish television broadcast but looks good!

Deadman's Curve (1978)
Directed by Richard Compton, USA
Underrated TV movie that tells the moving story of rock stars Jan and Dean. Richard Hatch (as Jan Berry) and Bruce Davison (as Dean Torrence) give great performances along with Wolfman Jack and Susan Sullivan. Featuring cameos by Dick Clark, The Beach Boys' Mike Love and Jan Berry himself!

Dealing...
Dealing, or The Berkeley-To-Boston Forty-Brick Lost-Bag Blues (1972)
WIDE-SCREEN PICTURE
Directed by Paul Williams, USA
Hard-to-find counterculture comedy about a marijuana smuggling job that goes horribly wrong. With a young John Lithgow, Barbara Hershey, Charles Durning and Joy Bang. The ending of this is ridiculously similar to the Quentin Tarantino scripted film “True Romance”! (How come no one’s ever even noticed??) Rated R

Diary of a Teenage Hitchhiker (1979)
Directed by Ted Post, USA
Dated and unintentionally funny made-for-TV movie that is a warning to all you teenagers out there that are still thumbin' it! Starring young Charlene Tilton as Julie, a girl who just won't learn the dangers of hitchhiking even after another girl is killed by an unseen hot-rod drivin' maniac! Look for Christopher Knight ("The Brady Bunch"'s Peter) as Julie's boyfriend! If schmaltzy '70s stuff is your cup of Kool Aid then thumb a ride with this one!

DOA
D.O.A. - A Right of Passage (1980)
Directed by Lech Kowalski, USA
Excellent punk footage most of which documents the Sex Pistols' tour of the U.S.! With a brief Dead Boys appearance, UK clips of Sham '69, X-Ray Spex, The Rich kids, Generation X, and the infamous stoned-out interview with Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen! Looks nice! Rated R

Don't Knock The Rock
Don’t Knock The Rock T.V. SHOW (aka Whole Lotta Shakin, 1964)
Directed by Philip Casson, Canada
Black & white Canadian tv special from Granada Television with amazing live studio performances by Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Gene Vincent, The Animals and others! Rare and excellent! Highly recommended! TV show is followed by a preview for "The Wilson Pickett Show" and several rock-n-roll movie trailers!

du BEAT-e-o
du Beat-e-o (duBEAT-e-o aka We're all Crazy Now, 1984)
Directed by Alan Sacks, USA
Okay, this film is pretty awful, but it contains the remnants of some of the great footage of Joan Jett with a pseudo-Runaways type band! These clips from ‘79 are the best thing about the movie but they unfortunately have star Ray Sharkey yammering over top of them! He plays a movie director trying to finish the film-wihin-a-film which looks like it may have been pretty cool. Derf Scratch (from the band Fear) plays the film editor and there's soundtrack music by Social Distorion, Dr. Know, The Lounge Lizards, The Mentors and Tex And The Horseheads. Look for Cheryl "Rainbeaux" Smith as one of the fake-Runaways and The Mentors' El Duce as himself! Why isn't this film better? Rated R

Duffy
Duffy (1968)
Directed by Robert Parrish, UK / USA
"Duffy" is a fun bank heist caper with an attempt to cash in on the hip "swinging London" theme. An ex-con now turned pacifist war vet turned hippy artist played by James Coburn is convinced to take part in a heist by a young, rich couple (James Fox and Susannah York) who plan to rob the boy's own father (James Mason) out of a million pounds! Originally written by future "Performance" director Donald Cammell who was appalled at what they did to his counterculture story, "Duffy" is still nonetheless a fun mod time capsule caper with a strong cult following!

Dynamite Chicken (1971)
Directed by Ernest Pintoff, USA

JUST ADDED! Nice looking copy of this counter-culture performance and skit mish-mash starring Richard Pryor and featuring Joan Baez, Linda Boyce, Jim Buckley, Ron Carey, Leonard Cohen, Marshall Efron, Jay Garner, Paul Krassner, John Lennon, Peter Max, Ondine, Yoko Ono, Lisa Ryan, Andy Warhol, Lenny Bruce, Al Goldstein, Allen Ginsberg, Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Sha Na Na, The Ace Turcking Company and others plus lots of archice footage that includes Humphrey Bogart, Malcom X and others! Rated R

Fireball Jungle
Fireball Jungle (1969)
Directed by Jose Prieto, USA
Man, oh, man! What a bizarre pic! Okay, lessee... the plot has something to do with corruption by the mob among some stock car racers... there's an obligatory catfight and some drug references. But the part you'll most remember is this totally wacked-out 5 minute middle section of the film that takes place in a bar with toilets instead of seats where a man sings a song to a poodle, a woman comes in with clothes and face makeup that makes her look like a walking checkered race flag, and when the cash register is opened it makes the sound of a toilet flushing... it goes on for a bit and makes no logical sense at all! You'll think someone dosed your Doritos when you see this thing! Then it's back to the story as if nuttin' happened! There's performances by an r&b singer and some gawdawful boy / girl vocal combo singing "Love Can Make You Happy"! There's a sign next to the band that says "The LSD For Lunch Bunch"! Ah, the '60s... John Russell and Allan Nixon star with Lon Chaney, Jr.! From the director of Shanty Tramp (also available)!

Go Ask AliceGo Ask Alice (1973)
Directed by John Korty, USA
"For a lonely girl, drugs provide an easy road to popularity and access to the depths of despair". And tons of unintentional laughs for the viewer! Infamous anti-drug made-for-tv movie starring Jamie Smith Jackson as the teenage Alice and William "Kirk Out" Shatner as dad! Look for Andy Griffith as the advice giving priest! As a kid I remember being forced to watch this in a 7th grade classroom (1976). It didn't help. Also with Ruth Roman, Julie Adams and Robert Carradine. Plus as added bonus: "When, Jenny? When?", An episode of the seventies television show "Insight" starring Maureen McCormick and Clark Brandon. Original Air Date: 1 February 1979.

Go, Johnny, Go! (1958)
Directed by Paul Landres, USA
Alan Freed puts on a big amateur rock-n-roll contest to find new talent. Featuring pseudo-live performances from Chuck Berry, Ritchie Valens, Jackie Wilson, Jo-Ann Campbell, Eddie Cochran, The Flamingos and The Cadillacs!
DVD-R includes the original theatrical trailer!

Gonks Go Beat
Gonks Go Beat (1965)
Directed by Robert Hartford-Davis, UK
The inhabitants of Beat Land are in dispute with those of Ballad Isle in this silly rock-n-roll (?) musical sci-fi fantasy comedy! It's up to a nervous alien who is assigned to bring peace to the 2 lands. If he fails he'll be exiled to the planet of the Gonks who look like goofy little hand-puppet people! A wacky film that is showcased by The Nashville Teens, Lulu and The Luvvers, The Troles and The Graham Bond Organization.

Groupie Girl
Groupie Girl (aka I Am A Groupie, 1970)
ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Directed by Derek Ford, UK
Esme Jones is the low-key but chubby-inducing groupie of the title. She runs away from home and joins up with the member of a touring rock band, unaware of the empty life and heartbreak that lies ahead! This film is pretty much a straight forward softcore sexploitation flick but has gained a bit of a cult following because of the surprisingly good rock music score! Not a landmark picture by any stretch, but a pretty cool and enjoyable piece of time capsule hipdom!

Hallucination Generation
Hallucination Generation (1966)
Directed by Edward Mann, USA / Spain
Nice looking copy of this hard-to-find LSD / crime drama! A black & white movie with color acid trip scenes! from the ads: "You will experience every jolt...every jar of a Psychedelic Circus...The Beatniks...Sickniks...and Acid-Heads...and you will witness their ecstasies, their agonies and their bizarre sensualities...You will be hurled into their debauched dreams and frenzied fantasies!". WOW!

Gritty trash drama about a young girl who runs away from her alcoholic mother and the mother's abusive boyfriend only to have the unfortunate luck of getting involved with a pimp that soon has Hannah turning tricks to support her new heroin habit. Young French actress Ann-Gisel Glass is Hannah. Note: Picture is slightly grainy on this one but not too bad. Rated R

Like It IsLike It Is (aka Psychedelic Fever, 1968)
Directed by William Rotsler, USA
Psychedelic nudie documentary on the '60s San Francisco scene. This "documentary" may have just been an excuse to show the constant stream of t&a, but the excellent colorful naked go-go girl trip footage backed with offbeat freak-out rock (which takes up half of the running time) makes this a unique experience! You can tell that director Rotsler put a lot of effort into the photography and editing. Possibly the most psychedelic movie ever made! Includes the original theatrical trailer! Recommended!! Rated R

The Love-InsThe Love-Ins (1967)
Directed by Arthur Dreifuss, USA
See what happens when a college professor quits and becomes an LSD hippy-guru! With Richard Todd as the Timothy Leary inspired Dr. Jonathan Barnett, also with James MacArthur, Susan Oliver and "Lost In Space" star Mark Goddard (who gets lost in a different kind of space!) plus The Chocolate Watchband!
DVD-R includes the original theatrical trailer!

Directed by Massimo Mida Puccini, Italy
Fun spy film starring Guy Madison as a secret agent out to stop an undercover organization who is smuggling LSD as part of an evil plan! More of a spy film then a drug film, still lots of fun with a few wacky trip scenes! With Franca Polesello, Mario Valgoi, Lucio De Santis Adriano Micantoni and Lucia Modugno.

Ewa Aulin (star of "Candy") co-stars with Carlo De Mejo, Eugene Pomero and Alex Rebar in this rare heroin drug drama with a major "groovy factor". I love this film for the same reason many people would hate it. Rated R

nEROSubiancoNerosubianco (aka The Artful Penetration of Barbara aka Black On White aka Attraction, 1968)
IN ITALIAN LANGUAGE WITH NO SUBTITLES
Directed by Tinto Brass, Italy
Before directing "Salon Kitty" and moving into the erotic style of film making that he is more known for, director Tinto Brass made a series of movies (including "L'urlo" and "Col cuore in gola") that can only be called "pop art". This one, my personal favorite, follows a beautiful young woman (Anita Sanders) who, after being dropped off in the park by what seems to be her husband, spends the day wandering the city where she is sometimes pursued by a Black man who she seems to have an interest in despite her reluctance to confront him. On her trip Brass sneaks in statements on politics, racism, hippies, war, sexuality, conformity and other topical subjects through the use of disjointed editing, stock footage, psychedelia, and music from the UK rock group The Freedom (not to be confused with the similarly named American band Freedom) who pop in and out performing the movie's groovy score. This is certainly a movie for someone enjoying nonsensical, train-of-thought plotless counterculture type films and anyone not liking that kind of thing would probably wanna steer clear. Radley Metzger released the film in the US through his Audobon distributing group as "The Artful Penetration of Barbara" (anyone got a copy of that?). This version, in Italian language only with a small Italian tv logo in the corner, is the only copy I have ever been able to find! It unfortunately appears to be cut as some of the nudity looks trimmed and some of it is covered up with a big psychedelic swirly thing! We have included, after the end of the movie, the excellent US trailer. Rated R

PermissivePermissive (1970)
Directed by Lindsay Shonteff, UK
From the ads: "The minstrels and their mistresses... Fast living, free loving, putting out savage, driving rhythmic music to the pulse of the Now Generation!". Okay, honestly, I thought this nudie film was a bit of a disappointment. The story of a teenage girl (Maggie Stride) becoming involved with the UK groupie scene, this film has some similarities to the much better made "Groupie Girl" (also available). The wanky "rock" music is by the bands Forever More, Comus and Titus Groan. Our version runs 89 minutes. Look for the infamous Collinson twins in a brief nude appearance (they also appear in "Groupie Girl", godblessem)! Rated R

Perversion Story
Perversion Story (Las Trompetas del apocalipsis aka I Caldi amori di una minorenne, 1969)
SLIGHTLY WIDE-SCREEN PICTURE
ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Directed by Julio Buchs, Spain / Italy
After his sister kills herself, a man delves into the swinging mod scene to find out why.
It seems the only clue is a small piece of classical music that is heard right before she threw herself out of a window! A fun thriller with a misleading title (there's not much perversion going on) and a hilarious misrepresentation of the London club scene. (The dj uses one turntable and when the record's done the kids all stop dancing and stand still and patiently wait for him to flip it over! Am I the only one that thinks this is funny??) Starring Marilu Tolo and Brett Halsey, with Romina Power. (Not to be confused with Lucio Fulci's "One On Top Of The Other" which was also released around the same time as "Perversion Story"!)

The PhynxThe Phynx (1969)
Directed by Lee H. Katzin, USA
The US government kidnaps 4 young men and "convinces" them to form a pre-fab rock band in a plan to tour Albania and spring several famous entertainers being held captive! An offbeat cult fave with a ridiculous amount of cameos including Busby Berkeley, Xavier Cugat, John Hart (aka The Lone Ranger), Joe Louis, Maureen O'Sullivan, Harold "Oddjob" Sakata, Ed Sullivan, Rona Barrett, James Brown, Guy Lombardo, Richard Pryor, Rudy Vallee, Johnny Weissmuller, Edgar Bergen & Charlie McCarthy, Dick Clark, Huntz Hall, Dorothy Lamour, Trini López, and Colonel Sanders! Whew! A mega-bomb but still fun!

PopcornPopcorn (aka Peter Clifton's Popcorn aka Popcorn: An Audio-Visual Rock Thing, 1969)
Directed by Peter Clifton, USA / Australia
Obscure music film with live footage and studio films from The Rolling Stones, Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, Vanilla Fudge, The (pre-disco) Bee Gees and Twiggy doing a runway fashion walk to the theme from "A Man and A Woman"! (Does it get much cooler than THAT I ask you?) . The Stone's promo films for "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and "2000 Light Years From Home" are highlights, as well as a very psychedelic promo film for Traffic's "Hole In My Shoe" and Vanilla Fudge performing live in a small room! Nice psychedelic montage sequences too! (runs app. 1 hour)

Riot on Sunset StripRiot On Sunset Strip (1967)
Directed by Arthur Driefus, USA
Parents want their teenage children to stop hanging out on L.A.’s Sunset Strip! Mimsy Farmer, a police detective’s daughter, is the new girl in the neighborhood. She hangs out with the bad kids, gets slipped acid and does a great “trip-dance” in this hard-to-find sixties youth exploiter. A bit on the chatty side but with some great musical club scenes including performances by The Chocolate Watchband, The Enemies and The Standells! Looks nice!

Rock, Baby, Rock it!Rock, Baby, Rock It! (1957)
Directed by Murray Douglas Sporup, USA
"Man, that cat comes on like Godzilla!" Silly story about some teenagers fighting against a mob trying to take over their favorite hangout or something is the excuse for a very cool showcase of live musical Rock-N-Roll, rockabilly, r&b and doo wop performances by Johnny Carroll, Roscoe Gordon and more obscure acts such as Preacher Smith and the Deacons, The Five Stars and others!
DVD-R includes the original theatrical trailer!

Rock, Pretty Baby (1956)
Directed by Richard Bartlett, USA
Teen melodrama that is kinda' fun in a cheezy and unintentionally funny way but pretty horrible if you're wanting to really rock out! John Saxon and Sal Mineo star with Luana Patten, Edward Platt, Fay Wray, Rod McKuen and a young Shelley Fabares, featuring original music by Sonny Burke, Bill Carey, Henry Mancini, Rod McKuen, Bobby Troup and Phil Tuminello.

Elizabeth Campbell, Amadee Chabot, Maura Monti, and Isela Vega play 4 sexy hitwomen in this ultra-rare satire! With the cool clothes of the era and the pop / rock music score, I'd like to call this a Mexican version of The Touchables but, to be honest, the film doesn't hold up quite that well. Nice looking picture although the sound is a bit "hot" but not too bad.

Co-starring French starlet Miou-Miou as an actress sent by her agent (along with another cutie and 2 scriptwriters) to the castle of a wacko retired horror star (Cushing) and his equally nutty wife. What follows is anybody’s guess! Intentionally disjointed and lots of fun! Hard to find! Rated R

I’m a sucker for flicks like this: A group of 4 cute swinging mod English chicks kidnap their favorite rock singer and hide him in a huge isolated plastic dome for fun & frolic! A fun sexy pop-comedy with soundtrack music by a 60s group called Nirvana! (Smells like a lawsuit to me!) A lot of these types of movies from this era don't hold up nearly as well as this one does! I admit that I have a soft spot for this movie and while a lot of people would be put off by it's silly style and meandering storyline, I can tell you that this is one of my favorite films! Rumor has it that David Bowie was originally considered to play the rock star! DVD-R includes the original theatrical trailer!

Urlatori alla sbarra
Urlatori Alla Sbarra + bonus Lucio Fulci documentary from Italian tv Dr. Fulci’s American Night (1959)
IN ITALIAN LANGUAGE WITH NO SUBTITLES
Directed by Lucio Fulci, Italy
A rock-n-roll film starring Elke Sommer featuring Italian artists Mina, Joe Sentieri, wacky Adriano Celentano and others, and featuring a rare performance by Chet Baker! The quality on this black & white obscurity is very good, save for a small Italian tv logo in the corner. The bad news: This picture is in Italian only. The good news: The characters break into song & dance at the drop of a hat so there’s pretty much constant music numbers and not a lot of dialogue! The shmaltzy but cool tunes and atmosphere kinda’ reminded me of the '60s beach party flicks of the U.S., but with a more Euro feel of course. More good news: When ordering this we’ll throw in free the rare Italian t.v. documentary “Dr. Fulci’s American Night”! This 30 minute t.v. show shot in ‘94 is a long interview with Fulci (in Italian) plus some film clips.
